According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an estimated 2.24 million people were injured in car crashes in 2011.  This is an increase of approximately 1.0% over a previous study which took place in 2009.  With that said, you never know when you might be one of those people.  Unfortunately, if you are one of those 2.24 million people, you may be faced with property damage, medical bills associated with your injuries, and lost wages from time off work.

At McMullin Legal Group, we understand the issues and will explain your rights and help you navigate the frustrating process that results from a traffic accident.

In order to help you through this process, you need to know what to do if you are injured in a traffic accident.  Below is a helpful list so that you can avoid the pitfalls that can often come up when you have been injured by another.
  1. Take a deep breath, gather yourself, and stay calm.
  2. If your injured or think that someone else is ..........CALL 911 immediately.
  3. Turn on your hazard lights for safety.
  4. Write down the following information:
    1. The names of all the people involved, including witnesses
    2. Where the vehicles came from (direction of travel) and where they ended up
    3. The conditions at the time of the crash; including, time of day and weather
    4. The name and drivers license number of the other driver
    5. The insurance information of the other driver
  5. Call the police, even if you or the other driver believe the accident is minor.
  6. Be courteous to the other driver and NEVER tell anyone the accident was your fault, even if you think it was.
  7. If asked about the accident by police, state only the facts.
  8. DO NOT sign any documents unless requested by the police.
We hope that you are never in an accident, but if you are, the information above will help.  In conjunction with this information, McMullin Legal Group is available to take your call.
